Biography
Clement Chen is an adjunct faculty member within the Management Area in the Costello College of Business at George Mason University. He is the retired chief executive officer of DSFederal, a data science and artificial intelligence firm focused on solving complex mission challenges for U.S. government agencies. At DSFederal, he was responsible for achieving the company’s strategic, financial and operational goals while also spearheading its global partnerships which included the formation of a ground-breaking strategic alliance with Taiwan AI Labs, the largest openAI research institute in all of Asia.
Prior to DSFederal, Chen was the chief strategy officer and business unit operating executive for the Leidos Health Group, a science and technology solutions company. During his tenure at the Leidos Health Group, he led strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, business development operations and the health and human services and commercial cybersecurity divisions. Previous to Leidos, he served as vice president, business innovation for Lockheed Martin where he was responsible for driving innovative concepts linking technology development, business models and strategy. Over a 30+ year career in the private sector with DSFederal, Leidos, Lockheed Martin, and IBM, his work has addressed a range of markets including healthcare, energy, logistics, national security, and telecommunications with a focus on systems integration, data analytics, business process management, and cyber security. He is a former naval officer, specializing in surface warfare and operations analysis and was an operational test director for naval engineering and combat systems.
Chen currently serves on the strategic advisory boards of DSFederal and the AI MINDSystemsFoundation. He is also a member of the College of William and Mary Asian-Pacific Islander and Middle Eastern alumni advisory board. He is a former member of the board of directors at the Center for Telecommunications Management at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business. He has also served on the board of directors at the Greater Washington Board of Trade and on the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Council (NSTAC) Information Assurance Task Force.
Chen graduated with honors from the United States Naval Academy with a B.S. in Applied Science and earned an MBA from the College of William and Mary, graduating as a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma academic honor society.
