The Deloitte Foundation Accounting Scholars Program is collaborating with 25 colleges and universities across the country, including the Costello College of Business at George Mason University, to provide a limited number of scholarships for students interested in pursuing a fifth-year master’s degree in accounting for the 2026-27 academic year. 

Who Should Apply?

Eligible candidates for the Deloitte Foundation Accounting Scholars Program are applicants to the Costello College of Business master’s in accounting program for the Fall 2026 entry term, with plans to complete the degree by the end of the 2026-2027 Academic Year (August 2027). Candidates should also be committed to pursuing a career in public accounting or taxation. 

Other eligibility requirements include: 

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university in the U.S.
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in accounting
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Must be able to reside and pursue career opportunities in the U.S. after graduation.
  • Must meet admission standards for the master’s program in accounting
  • Obtaining CPA in the U.S. (not presently a CPA)

To be considered, submit your application to the master’s in accounting program by the Fall 2026 priority deadline of February 1, 2026. 

Include a supplemental essay addressing what makes you a strong candidate for the Deloitte Foundation Accounting Scholars Program. In your response, highlight how you meet the eligibility criteria and your commitment to becoming a CPA.

No additional application is required beyond the standard master’s in accounting application. 

About the Costello College of Business Master’s of Science in Accounting  

The STEM-designated Master's of Science in Accounting program at the Costello College of Business prepares students for professional careers in management, consulting, entrepreneurship, government, major firms, and accounting firms.

The program, offered in person at the Fairfax campus, online, or in a hybrid format, fulfills CPA coursework requirements in most states and builds advanced analytical, critical-thinking, and interpersonal skills for career advancement.

The curriculum covers financial, audit, and tax accounting, business ethics, and corporate governance, with options to add a specialized certificate in accounting analytics, forensic accounting, accounting for government contracts, or government accounting.
