Mason's nearly 40,000 students come from all 50 states and 130 countries. Our campus is a mosaic of humanity, where a multitude of different people, languages, and perspectives come together. And while we may not always share the same opinion, we embrace a mutual respect for different points of view. 

The Costello College of Business at George Mason University is a place of opportunity where learners at any stage come to develop, enterprises find talent and expertise, and business is a positive force in the world. We achieve that vision by preparing a diverse student body and faculty to succeed in a global business environment, producing outstanding scholarship in business, working to maximize the impact of our expertise, and striving to instill a strong ethical compass and a life-long habit of learning in our students and stakeholders. The pursuit of diversity, inclusion, and equity is not layered on top of what we doit is core to who we are.  

We recognize that the first step in delivering on our mission is to bring together a diverse community, but that alone is not enough. We must go further to ensure success for all students-regardless of demographics-and we must intentionally use the diversity of our community as a key element of our learning strategy. When we engage our community with the work of diversity, inclusion, and equity, we facilitate the development of a strong ethical compass in our students and stakeholders. The pursuit of inclusive excellence is the responsibility of all members of the Costello College of Business community. We recognize that our success is dependent on how well we value, engage, and include the rich diversity of our students, staff, faculty, administrators, and alumni stakeholders.

Through our Inclusive Excellence Plan, we are considering our processes and practices related to recruitment of faculty and staff, student admissions and recruiting, curriculum, programming, alumni engagement, and professional development for faculty and staff. We are committed to the idea that business must take a leading role in making a better world, and the self-reflection and intentionality required to produce this plan is a first step in our journey to ensure that the Costello College of Business leads by example in creating a diverse, inclusive, and equitable academic community.
